Saba Con Yelo

Caramelized Banana in Ice
Saba Con Yelo is made of caramelized and or sweetened cooking banana with crushed ice and milk, usually served as a dessert or snack. Either saba or plantains  are used in this  dessert, because of their firm texture when cooked. Sweetened banana or "minatamis na saging" can also be eaten, as it is for dessert; or one of the ingredients for "Halo-halo",which is usually sliced about 1/4in thick.
This treat can be served as a whole banana or sliced. In this recipe, I preferred it sliced because it is easy to eat.

 Ingredients:

10-12 pieces Ripe Saba (peeled)
1 cup Brown Sugar

1 cup Water
1 can Evaporated Milk
Crushed Ice

Let's Cook!
Caramelizing the bananas
  1. In a medium pot and medium heat, put water and brown sugar boil until slightly thicken.
  2. Add in peeled bananas and simmer until cook and the water and sugar mixture caramelizes.
  3. Turn off heat. Set aside to cool down.
  4. When cooled down, slice bananas into 1 or 2 inches thick.
  5. In a medium bowl, put in the sliced banana then top it with crushed ice and add more banana on top.
  6. Drizzle with evaporated milk, serve and enjoy!
