Seared Sesame Crusted Ahi

Seared Sesame Crusted Ahi in the bed of mix salad with sesame salad dressing

This easy and simple, yet healthy, good, tasty sesame seed coated ahi, then seared dish is perfect with anything. This can be served with just green salad, if you want it to be very light and healthy, or with rice or mashed potatoes, if you want it on the heavy side.
When buying fresh tuna fillets, make sure to look for fillets that are bright in color. Buy thick fillet cuts, not steak, because they are much better for slicing. In this dish, I opted to serve it with mixed salad with sesame salad dressing and it's just perfect!

Ingredients:
  • 3 pcs. Ahi Fillet (about 2 inch thick each)
  • 1/3 cup Sesame Seeds (add more if needed)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
      Mixed Salad:
  • Mixed lettuce
  • 1 Avocado (peeled and sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Cherry Tomatoes
  • Sesame Salad Dressing
Let's Cook!
  1. Season Ahi tuna with salt and pepper
  2. Dredge Ahi in the sesame seeds, make sure each tuna is evenly coated with sesame seeds.
  3. Heat a non stick pan, add extra virgin olive oil.
  4. When the oil is hot enough, arrange the Ahi in the pan, make sure not to overcrowd.
  5. Sear until the sesame seeds start to turn golden.
  6. Carefully turn the Ahi over and sear until the sesame seeds underneath turn golden.
  7. When done, transfer Ahi on to a cutting board and slice into 1/2 in thick or to your desired thickness.
  8. In a salad bowl, mix all the salad ingredients together except avocado.
  9. Transfer some mixed salad in a plate, put the sliced seared Ahi on top and arrange the avocado on the side.
  10. Serve, share and enjoy!
